Treorchy Rugby-Netball Tour 2020

Following a whole school day of anticipation and excitement, everyone changed and loaded their bags onto the coach. As we set off, everyone was very energetic and could not wait to get started. However, Mr Page informed all the ‘tourists’ of the court feature whilst on tour, before we had even set off there were people to be punished! Toby Hellen and Bobby Babbs had both missed the meetings and despite having excuses had to do a forfeit. Mr Page even had a judge’s wig for himself (I bet he enjoyed having hair for once!). After a few hours of very good songs and some not so good singing, we finally made it to the Reading Services, most people enjoyed a meal then we were back on the M4 for a few more hours until we arrived in Cardiff Bay. We settled into our rooms for a big day tomorrow (although most rooms were up late with lots of chat and funny antics!).
After an hour’s drive, we made it to Treorchy School. The rugby game was very competitive and the Welsh were a very good team. The mud made it difficult to use our speed so we began running hard and straight. This was definitely working as Alfie Gammons scored a great team try after lots of phases. Bobby Babbs ended the half with a successful conversion. The game was very even with both teams only scoring one try each in the second half. Jacob Brewer ran from near the Boswells try line, through all the Treorchy players for a spectacular solo try and Luke Atkinson added a 2 points for his conversion. Unfortunately they were too strong in the rugby and again as usual we won the Netball.
A few showers later, we headed out in Cardiff and got a nice group photo, apart from Mr Page who I made sure to bunny ears! Next we enjoyed two games of competitive bowling which were very fun and later tucked in at Frankie and Bennie’s. Both were a great way of finishing off our first full day in Wales.
On our final morning we enjoyed another tasty breakfast; soon after packing we were on our way to our final destination the home of Welsh rugby - The Principality Stadium. The stadium tour was very detailed, we even got to go into the changing rooms and stood pitch side! As captain I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff on behalf of everyone who toured. It wouldn’t have been possible to have such an enjoyable tour thanks for giving up your weekend.
