Lower School Pantomime!

This year saw our first ever lower school pantomime. It was a transition project for our resident B.A.D. Co. performers from Y5& 6 as well as the first public drama showcase for Y7 who aren’t able to be involved in the whole school production in their first term starting here at Boswells. It was a fantastic event that saw over 150 audience members clapping and cheering at the comic and ridiculous characters featured within the three pantomimes showcased. Y5&6 club, performed in two parts, presented ‘Hollie & Gretel’, an adaptation of the original ‘Hansel & Gretel’ fairy tale. Y7 drama club was divided into 2 separate groups; each presenting a full, 50 minute pantomime of their own! One group performed ‘Snow White & some Dwarves’ and the other group performed ‘Cinderella’.
It was a complete sell out and the audience certainly played their part with the interaction with our panto characters. It was a fantastic evening of song, dance and most of all acting. The evening did not only feature students on stage, but we had some of our older students helping backstage too. Y9&10 helped with makeup, technical and directing. Also, our production design club, which runs every Tuesday, made the props for all the pieces.
It was an extremely successful evening and thoroughly enjoyed by all involved and/or watching! In fact, despite being a new show in our calendar, it went down so well, we may just have to do it again next year!
