成品视频 students visit CF Valencia for 2019 Football Tour

Fri 03 May 2019

48 students across 3 teams were fortunate enough to fly out to Valencia this Easter for the latest instalment of the 成品视频 Football Tour. The trip, composing 5 days and 4 nights, gives students the opportunity to sample training at a world-class facility with coaches from the Valencia academy programme, and then compete in a match against local Spanish opposition to put into practice the skills they have learnt. The training sessions cover a variety of different aspects of football, from passing and shooting drills to looking at principles of attacking and defending and tactics and game understanding.

Alongside the training, the students also get to experience some of the Spanish football philosophy by attending a couple of live games – the entertaining 2-2 draw between Levante and Huesca in La Liga being a highlight, as well as Valencia B’s 0-1 home defeat against Girona. The students also get some time to relax at one of Valencia’s fine beaches, where they can work on their beach football skills or have some well-earned rest, and also get some time to explore parts of the Old Town in the city centre.   The highlight of the trip is undoubtedly the games against the local Spanish opposition, and the boys acquitted themselves excellently in them to come out with some fantastic results. The Year 8’s played and battled well in winning 5-4, the Year 9’s were unlucky to only come away with a 1-1 draw after their good performance and the Year 10’s were excellent in winning 4-2 against 3 very good Spanish sides.

PE teacher Callum Ridgway said, ‘This is the third football tour that we have run now, and they continue to be a fantastic experience for our students. The training and matches are really high quality and the boys learn lots from them. But as good as they are, those sessions are only like that due to the effort and attitude that our students put into them, and our students were excellent at every opportunity. Every single student on the trip conducted themselves brilliantly throughout, and whilst it’s great to have some success in the games, this is ultimately what we are looking for from our students – we were delighted with them throughout the trip and they should be proud of their conduct.’   The football tour runs every two year, with the ski trip running in the years in-between, with the next football tour looking to run again in 2021 – details of the next tour will come out in the new academic year in September, so look for more details then!
